A trip to Jerusalem A trip to Jerusalem from Hurghada is first: a very long and tiring trip, secondly: very expensive. I'll start with the cost. A trip that lasts over 30 hours will cost anywhere from $ 230 to $ 280. Some travel agencies also do not provide lunch included in the lunch price. Importantly, it is a combined journey: plane + coach + plane. We don't fly directly to Jerusalem from Hurghada. We fly out in the evening (~ 22.00) from Hurghada to Sham El Sheik. From Sharm we go by coach (we cross the border in Taba) and then we go to Jerusalem. In most cases, the program includes the Mount of Olives, the Old Town: Western Wall, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Mount Zion: Cenacle, King David's Tomb, Basilica of the Nativity. Lunch and transfer back to Sharm El Sheik. On the way, a stop at the Dead Sea. Departure from Sharm (arrival in Hurghada on Monday ~ 2.00 am). No posts published in this language yet Stay tuned... Itinerary for a sample trip to Jerusalem Departure by coach from Sharm el Sheikh to Taba, Transfer to the Dead Sea - swimming in the Dead Sea (please bring your bathing suits). Visiting Jerusalem: THE MOUNT OF OLIVES rises to the east of the Temple Mount. Jewish tradition says that it is here that the resurrection of people will begin on the day of the Last Judgment. However, the greatest attraction of the Mount of Olives is the beautiful panorama of the Old Town and the Temple Mount with the gilded Dome of the Rock. CHURCH DOMINUS FLEVIT - was erected on a rock on the Mount of Olives, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem, hence the name Dominus Flavit (meaning the Lord wept). North of this place is the PATER NOSTER CHURCH. It was erected right next to the grotto where Jesus taught his apostles. An interesting feature of this place is the text of the Lord's Prayer in over 60 languages, laid out of ceramic tiles. VIA DOLOROSA - the Way of the Cross leads through the Muslim and Christian neighborhoods. The path Jesus walked carrying the cross to the place of his execution. It begins in the Muslim quarter in the courtyard of the Roman fortress Antonina. It then runs alongside the Ecce Homo arc and leads to the Basilica of the Panski Tomb - in the Christian Quarter. WALK WALL - is the focal point of the Jewish quarter. You can always find praying Jews at the Wailing Wall. It is the remnant of the outer wall of the Second Temple of Jerusalem, built at the end of the 6th century BC on the site of the Temple built by Solomon. In 688 this place, Muslims erected the Dome of the Rock, blocking access to Jews. From then on, the Jews can only lament at the outer wall. Today, pious Jews stick pages of prayers and petitions to God between the stones of the ancient wall, believing that this is the place closest to the house of God. MOUNTAIN OF ZION - the most popular building on Mount Zion is the fairytale church and monastery of the DORMON OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY. According to the tradition of the Catholic Church, the church and monastery made of white sandstone is the place where the Virgin Mary falls asleep in the eternal sleep. Right behind the church is the Tomb of David, venerated by pious Jews as well as by many Christians. For many Jews, this place is a destination for pilgrimages, it is a place of prayer and memories of bygone times. On the first floor there is a vaulted room of the Cenacle. It is supposed to be the place where Jesus' LAST Supper is being eaten with the apostles. Descending from Mount Zion to the east, the Church of St. PIOTRA IN GALLICANTU (in the place where the rooster crows). According to Christian tradition, at this point the apostle Peter denied Jesus. It offers a wonderful view of the City of David and the valleys that surround Jerusalem. Return to Sharm El Sheikh at night. Departure to Hurghada at night. YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR passport, original receipt, clothing appropriate for visiting Jerusalem, and comfortable shoes. after: polsharm

The city consists of three districts: center, Karnak and Thebes. The city gained importance around 2000 BC during the rule of the 11th Dynasty. In ancient times it was called Waset, which means strength. Under the Greek rule, the name was changed to Thebes. Homer described Luxor as "the city of a thousand gates". By for many years it was one of the most important cities in the world. Here was the political, economic, religious and military center of ancient Egypt. Over 380,000 people live in Luxor. The airport is 20 minutes from the center. The center of Luxor's attractions is the boulevard that runs along the banks of the Nile. Is located here, among others, the Winter Palace hotel, where Agatha Christie wrote one of her most important novels, "Death on the Nile". The other two main ones the streets are al-Mahetta, where the train station is located, and al-Karnak, which runs from the Temple of Karnak to the Temple of Luxor. No posts published in this language yet Stay tuned... From the time of Amenhotep II and Ramesses II, the Temple of Luxor has been dedicated to the god Amen and his wife Mut. The temple was built during the New Kingdom period it has a huge pylon built by Ramesses II. There are also remains of one of the two 25-meter obelisks made of granite. Inside the Temple of Karnak there are courtyards, columns and beautiful peristas, each 100 meters long and built by Amenhotep III. The temples were built to honor the power of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom. The Karnak Temple is the largest ancient religious site in the world. The name comes from the village of Al-Karnak. Temple consists of three different temples. The Precint of Amun-Re is an ancient temple dedicated to god Amon. It is the only area open to tourists. They are next to it There are also Temples: Precint of Montu and Precint of Mut, and Temple of Amenhotep IV. Karnak was built in 2000 BC and it is believed that about 30 pharaohs added buildings, temples and chapels over a period of about two thousand years (from the Medieval Kingdom to the Ptolemaic times). The result and effect of this is a treasure of ancient structures and structures, columns, courtyards, pylons and obelisks. At the entrance to Karnak, we pass a row of figures. The place is known as Rams Avenue. Worth a visit as well The Mummification Museum which is right on the doorstep the eye of Karnak. There is a graphic exhibition of how the ancient Egyptians mummified not only humans, but also crocodiles, pets and fish. Everything is presented in mummified form, including the body of Masahart, the high-level clergyman of Amun in Thebes around 1050 BC. At the Mummification Museum, we can also see the tools that were used to remove internal organs and release fluids. In Luxor, it is also worth visiting the El-Mekashkesh Mosque, where the remains of a 10th-century Islamic saint, and the magnificent Coptic Basilica. On the west bank of the Nile you must see the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, and the Valley of the Nobles. It is worth visiting the Temple of Madinet Habu, which houses the Temples of Amenhotep, and of Ramses III. You must see the Colossi of Memnon, the Ramesseum Temple, and the Hatshepsut Temple. This temple was designed by the personal architect of the pharaoh - Senemtut during the 17th Dynasty. Additionally, on one side of the Temple of Hatshepsut there are the ruins of the Montuhetop II Temple, and on the other side, the tomb of Amun and the Sanctuary of the Sun. The Anubis Chapel is also worth visiting. Wycieczka do Luxoru Dolina Królów Wycieczka do Luxoru Grobowiec Hutenchamona Wycieczka do Luxoru Dolina Królów 1/4 The trip from Hurghada to Luxor begins in most cases around 5am. We have 300 kilometers of bus ride ahead of us (i.e. ~ 5 hours of driving). Before buying a tour, I suggest that you ask the seller about the itinerary. This is very important, especially for people who do not like scorching sun and have heart problems. The rule is simple. If we come to the Valley of the Kings at 10 o'clock, the air temperature is still bearable. Wycieczka do Luxoru Karnak Wycieczka do Luxoru Kolosy Memnona Wycieczka do Luxoru Karnak 1/4 If, in the itinerary of our trip, the Valley of the Kings is at the end of the program, the temperature in the valley (and especially in the tombs) is unbearable (it can even reach 50 degrees in the sun). I will add right away that the Valley of the Kings is a place surrounded by high mountains, without natural air movement, with no trees or places where you can hide from the heat. Unfortunately, this is used by local sellers who offer drinks at a price several times higher than their value. Unconditionally: for a trip to the Valley of the Kings you must take at least two large bottles of still water per person. There are no jokes at this point. Very often there are cases of fainting, fainting and even heart attacks. Before going on a trip to the Valley of the Kings, I do not recommend drinking alcohol. Of course, if you want - drink, but it can really end very badly for you. Many ancient tombs have been hidden in the Valley of the Kings, such as: Tomb of Tutankhamen, Seti I, Ramesses I, Ramesses II, Ramesses III, Ramesses IV, Siptah. There are over 60 tombs in the valley. The establishment of the Valley of the Kings dates back to the 16th to 11th centuries BC, when this place became on the plots of the pharaohs of the ruling dynasties of the New State. The Valley of the Kings is believed to have been used as a burial site for about 500 years and the resting place of kings and their family members from the 17th to the 20th centuries BC. In 1979, the necropolis was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. We can get to the Valley of the Kings by a special train going among sand dunes and hills. On the right side of the valley is Tutankhamun's tomb marked with the number KV62. The tomb was discovered on November 26, 1922 by the British archaeologist Howard Carter. The king's mummy was in three sarcophagi: the first two were made of gilded wood (the second was additionally decorated with glaze), the third was made of gold. Currently, the treasures from the tomb are in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, including: a sarcophagus, jewelry, a smaller sarcophagus containing insides removed during mummification, and the famous golden mask, which has become a symbol of ancient Egypt. The tomb itself is quite small, leads to it narrow and a stuffy corridor several dozen meters long. You are not allowed to take pictures downstairs and be very quiet. Tutankhamun's tomb is not decorated unlike those in which Ramses I and III were buried. Both are on the left side of the Valley. We go to the tombs by stairs leading through corridors richly decorated with paintings and hieroglyphs. Yellow, orange and red are so bright that it's hard to believe they were drawn centuries ago. The tomb of Ramesses I (KV16), the second pharaoh dating from the 19th Dynasty, is literally captivating, as is the tomb of Ramesses III discovered in the 17th century. Known otherwise as the Harpist's Tomb after its discovery of paintings of musicians, sometimes named after its explorer James Bruce. The next tomb is the tomb of King Sipath (KV47) from the 19th Dynasty. It is one of the earliest discovered. Pharaoh's mummy was discovered in the tomb of King Amenhotep II (KV35) in 1898. A visit to the Valley of the Kings is an absolute must while in Egypt. Lots of excursions from the guide also includes a visit to the nearby Valley of the Aristocracy, located south of the Valley of the Kings, where many important figures of the then Egypt were buried. Also nearby is Deir El-Medina, where the tombs of the workers and artists who worked on the construction of the royal tombs are located. The time of their creation dates back to the Ptolemaic era. source: www.egypt.travel To play, press and hold the enter key. To stop, release the enter key. Visiting Luxor is one of the obligatory items on the agenda of every trip in Egypt. Nowhere else will we find so many remnants of one of the first developed cultures in the world. Luxor is a city in southern Egypt, on the right bank of the Nile, separated by a canal from the northern part, now called Karnak. In antiquity it was called the "Southern Harem". The name of the city literally means "city of palaces". reportedly, the Arab invaders in the 7th century, seeing all the temples, thought that they were royal palaces. Hence the name. The impressive monuments of Luxor allude to the "city of a hundred gates", or Thebes, about which Homer wrote in his Iliad. Thebes was an important city at the beginning of the Egyptian state, but only after the expulsion of the Hykos in the middle of the 2nd century BC did it become the political and religious center of Egypt, taking over the function of the former capital - Memphis. To the east of the Nile were royal palaces and temples, and to the west was the city of the dead. At the time of the New Kingdom, Thebes was one of the most magnificent cities in the ancient world, and had a population of nearly one million around 1300 BC. The 21st Dynasty moved the capital of the state to Tanisu located in the Nile Delta. Around 666 BC Thebes were looted and destroyed by the Assyrians. In the Ptolemaic period, Thebes / Luxor was just a small provincial town. At the beginning of Roman rule, Cornelius Gallus, who ruled over the city, ordered the destruction of Thebes. They only gained importance again with the development of tourism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Only two temple complexes located in the then city, and the perfectly preserved cities of the dead, where the rulers of the New Kingdom were buried, remain from the times of former glory. Temple of Karnak About 3 km from the temple in Luxor, near the Nile, there is a complex of buildings created by many Egyptian rulers. The whole construction took 2,000 years. The newer buildings are located near the present entrance, the oldest are at the western end. The heart of this complex is the Temple of Amun, known primarily for its "forest" of columns. 122 columns with papyrus capitals extend to the right and left of the main entrance, which was marked with a further 12 columns. It is also worth visiting the places on the left side of the open-air museum, where there is a section dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut and the "white chapel" of Senostris. Two obelisks climbing towards the sky are clearly visible. One of them - on the eastern side - erected Tumosis. It weighs 143 tons and is 23 meters high. The second obelisk was built by Hatshepsut, and the third - overturned - was located at the sacred lake, which was used by priests for ritual washing and boat rides. on the lake there was also a huge scarab built in the time of Amenophis III, which is a symbol of the sun god Re. In the passage to the southern part of the temple there is the stele "Israel" - the only mention of the Hebrews from the time of ancient Egypt. "How beautiful is the Temple of Amun", the inscription reads, "when the day solemnly passes." Kings Valley The Valley of the Kings - Biban al-Muluk, is a total of 64 stone tombs of the pharaohs of the 18th-20th dynasty. To protect the valuable murals depicting scenes from the world of the dead, only some of the tombs are open to visitors. The first pharaoh to have his tomb built in a valley, away from the known necropolises, was Tuthmosis I, the last of Ramses XI. The Tombs in the Valley are tomb complexes carved into the rock, consisting of a series of corridors and halls. Already in modern times of the pharaohs, many tombs have been opened and looted. This practice continued for centuries. For this reason, even during the reign of ancient rulers, there were situations where mummies were moved to protect them from defecation. In the Valley of the Kings, not only burial sites have been discovered, but also unfinished burial chambers. The most interesting tombs are those of Ramesses IX (No. 6), Merenptah (No. 8), Ramesses VI (No. 57), and Tutankhamen (No. 62). It is the final resting place of the Pharaoh's child, discovered on November 26, 1922 by Howard Carter, who was working on behalf of Carnarvon. It was a sensational discovery as it was the first time that a fully equipped tomb had been found. The king's mummy rested in a sarcophagus made of quartzite in three mumio-shaped coffins: the first two were made of gilded wood. the third was made of gold. The golden mask covering the mummy showed the features of the young king. On the forehead there is a royal ureus - the head of a cobra and a vulture - a symbol of royal power, intended to protect the deceased. A fake beard with a bent end symbolizes the relationship of the pharaoh with Osis. Hatshepsut Temple The Hatshepsut Temple is one of the most impressive structures in Western Thebes and is situated at the foot of a steep, approximately 300-meter-high mountain massif. The daughter of Tutmosis I reigned in the years 1490-1468 BC, depriving the rightful heir of Tutmosis III from power. After her death, Tutmosis III had many buildings built during her lifetime demolished in order to destroy her name and memory. The temple was built according to the plans and under construction supervision, idolizing the queen Hatshepsut, Senenmut. It extends over three terraces, with ramps connecting the temple levels. Its natural relief ornaments are characteristic. The natural lines of paintings in the southern part of the central terrace seem to be the most interesting. They tell about a trade expedition to the legendary "golden land" of Punt. The Valley of the Queens In the Valley of the Queens there are the tombs of the wives of Egyptian rulers and princes. They usually consist of a vestibule, a corridor, a place of worship and a side room where the sarcophagus was placed. Some of them date back to the 17th Dynasty. The tomb of Nefertiti deserves special attention. The murals on the tomb of Ramses' wife have been restored by experts in recent years, but it is still not certain when Nefrititi's resting place will be opened to the public. Colossi of Memnon and Medinat Habu The Colossi of Memnon are two seated figures, 18 meters high. They depict Amenophis II. These are the only preserved remains of the temple. An earthquake in AD 27 caused severe damage and cracks in the boulder. The mortuary temple of Ramses III is one of the best-preserved monuments of that time in Western Thebes. Its entrance resembles a fortress. The "Syrian Gate" is a unique monument in Egypt. It performed not only a defensive function. The apartments in it served as a harem. Queen Hatshepsut had the temple built. Temple in Luxor Directly on the coastal street stands a temple built by Aminofis III and Ramses II, which was named "The Triad of Thebes" in honor of the god Amun, his wife Mut and son Khonsu. Two gigantic statues of Ramses II stand guard at the entrance to the temple. Of the original two obelisks, only one remained. The other is in Concorde Square in Paris. It was donated to France by Mohammed Ali. The avenue of sphinxes leads to the entrance, on the gate of which the Battle of Kadesh is depicted. To the left of the entrance you will come across the Abdul Haggag Mosque. Sheikh Yussuf Abdul Haggaga was the founder of the Sufi brotherhood in Luxor at the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries. source: Egypt Exclusive Dolina Królów Dolina Królów - Biban al-Muluk, to łącznie 64 kamienne grobowce faraonów XVIII-XX dynastii. Córka Tutmozisa I panowała w latach 1490-1468 p. n. e., pozbawiając władzy prawowitego następcę Tutmozisa III. Kolosy Memnona i Medinat Habu Kolosy Memnona to dwie siedzące postacie o wysokości 18 metrów. Przedstawiają Amenofisa II. Są to jedyne zachowane szczątki świątyni. Trzęsienie ziemi w 27 roku n. e. spowodowało poważne uszkodzenia i pęknięcia głazu. Został on podarowany Francji przez Mohammeda Aliego. Ras Mohammed National Park Ras Mohammed National Park, which covers 480 square kilometers, is located at the very top of the Sinai Peninsula, about 20 kilometers from Sharm El Sheikh. The national park stayed established to protect the marine life, flora and fauna and preserve the natural beauty of the region. For diving enthusiasts, this area is a kind of paradise. Ras Mohammed National Park has over 220 types of coral, 40 types of starfish, 25 species of porcupines, 100 types of molluscs and 150 types of crustaceans as well as over 1000 types of fish. Moreover, in this area, on the seabed, there are many shipwrecks from the time when ships patrolled this area, formerly considered a strategic point due to the proximity of the Suez Canal. So, diving in this area is a great adventure. Basic places to go The dives are: Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef - two twin coral reefs stretching for hundreds of meters below the water surface. These places are recommended for experienced divers. Shark Reef is also the home of hammerhead sharks, white and gray. This area is also inhabited by barracudas and huge tuna. Yolanda Reef got its name from the wreck of the freighter Yolanda, some of which can still be "visited" by diving deep enough. The ship containers scattered under the seabed are interesting finds for divers. The entire ecosystem in Ras Mohammed is protected is the law. It is forbidden to put any structures on the water as well as on land. Sharm el Sheikh and Na'ama Bay This town is simply called Sharm. The name of the city first appeared on maps in the 17th century and for two centuries it was a small fishing village. In Arabic, the word "sharm" means a bay and "el Sheikh" means a wise old man. Currently, Sharm el Sheikh is, next to Hurghada, the most famous resort of the Red Sea in the world. The area consists of downtown Sharm el-Maya, the busy Naam Bay and Shark Bay along the coast. Sharm is South Sinai's most popular resort and an ideal base. You can dive here or just have fun in the water at Ras Um Sid, Turtle Bay and the Straits of Tirana. According to some experts, the Sharm region is considered to be the best diving reservoir in the world. The beaches in Sharma are not very wide because of the cliffs that are located sometimes just a few meters from the sea. The beaches, however, are mostly sandy. Interestingly, you can see many beautiful fish sitting on one of the many decks built to make protect corals from human feet. A long promenade that covers the beach in Naama Bay it is a place for walks. Right next to it there is a promenade - the central place of Sharm with discos, cafes, restaurants and shops. The nightlife on Na'ama Bay deserves its fame and is already legendary. On site, tourists have at their disposal a casino, Hard Rock Cafe, Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King, and a large number of cafes and restaurants for every budget. Fans of partying in clubs have a wide selection of discos here, especially in Pacha Avenue. Sharm is one of the most popular conference venues in the world. It has an international airport connected to the city by a highway. The city area has become an important destination for golf lovers. Golf courses such as those in Martim Jollie meet international standards with a guarantee of weather every day. Importantly for Europeans, Sharm is the only city in Egypt with liquor stores and They sell beer and strong alcohols. Dahab and Nabq Dahab - is a small Bedouin town located 100 kilometers north of Sharm. Its name means "gold" and is derived from its beautiful beaches. The natural environment in the entire region is protected by the Egyptian authorities. Like other regions of the Red Sea and Sinai, Dahab has several interesting places dive sites. The Blue Hole, literally meaning "deep hole" in a coral reef, is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Dahab and is the destination for more experienced divers. Blue Hole is a reef 150 meters wide and 110 meters deep. The breeze blowing from the Red Sea makes the city a windsurfing center and the lagoon seems to be "tailor-made" for kitesurfing fans. Nabq is located 30 kilometers north of Sharm. The coral reefs stretch along the entire length of the coast, where the desert meets the sea. It is a protected port that was created in 1992 to protect the coral reef and the mangroves that stretch along the shoreline. Most of the area is inhabited by the Bedouins. Nabq is home to the largest mangrove forest in Sinai. The shipwreck of the Maria Schroeder, which sank on a coral reef in 1965, with some still above the water, is still clearly visible and often explored by divers. Abu Gallum National Park North of Dahab is Ras Abu Gallum National Park. There are no hotels here, no loud music shops and no crowds of tourists. This area covers an area of 400 square kilometers is protected by the laws of Egypt. Bedouins live in the Park. The place is famous for its fantastic diving conditions. Gebel Fuga is the largest desert plateau surrounded by mountains that can be visited on a safari. The area is called Słupców Forest because it is covered with black lava, as if with rock columns that seem to grow straight out of the mountains. On the camel trail to Abu Gallum National Park, your snorkel equipment, along with food, drinks and luggage, will be carried by a camel. A trip along the trail to the National Park takes place with the participation of diving instructors and experienced Bedouin guides. Water turtles, stingrays and giant Bacadudas can be found under the water. Nuweiba Nuwait - is a town located on the southern coast of Sinai, about 180 kilometers north of Sharm. The city is surrounded by National Parks. Tarabin located north of Nuweiba is known for dense palm groves, shallow bays and the ruins of Turkish forts. The well located in these ruins served as a source of fresh water for the Bedouin tribes who have inhabited the area for centuries. The restaurants here are furnished in a Bedouin style, with carpets and cushions for a cozy feeling. Hey the city lies between Tarabin and the Dunes. In the center you will find bazaars, restaurants and traditional bakeries serving warm pita bread. Dunes connect the city of Nuweiba to the port. The most popular of the excursions offered from Nuweiba is the excursion to the Monastery of St. Catherine who he often visits nearby towns such as Mawamis, where there are tomb chambers from the early Bronze Age. Other stops include the Inscribed Stone, which contains ancient inscriptions created by various civilizations. Other tours include camel tours. Some can to last from 3 to 5 days. Colorful canyons and the Ain Hudra oasis allow you to stroll through palm gardens and wonderful landscapes. Ain Um Ahmad Oasis is the most beautiful and largest oasis in the south of Sinai. Bedouins grow oranges, almonds, peaches, figs and dates here. Taba and the Taba Hills The Taba region gained attention in the 1970s when it became a magnet for backpackers looking for a place to live a simple hippie lifestyle. Of course, the city has grown significantly since then, but the relaxed lifestyle is still very evident here, especially when compared to places as bustling as Sharm and Hurghada. The feeling of relaxation and closeness to nature are there one of the main reasons for the popularity of this region. Many people recognize Taba for the perfect place for a family vacation. A few kilometers from Taba is Pharaoh's Island, a place with unbelievable views. The golf course in the Taba Hills has the longest distance in Eipta to the hole. The 14th hole is 640 yards. Mount Sinai and the Monastery of St. Catherine These two attractions and the majestic mountains surrounding them sum up the magic and diversity of the Sinai region. Mount Sinai is the name of the group of peaks and is sometimes called the Holy Mountain. At the southern end is Mount Moses, where (according to accounts) Moses communicated with God and received the tablets of the 10 commandments. Mount Moses is the highest peak of Sinai. The highest mountain in Egypt is Mount Catherine next to it, which measures 2,500 meters. The shortest way to Mount Catherine (where St. Catherine's Monastery is located) is Siket Syidna Musa. They are stairs consisting of 3 750 steps, known as stairs of repentance. They were cut out of the rock by monks from the Monastery of St. Catherine and are located at the northwestern foot of the mountain. Many people climb after dark, partly to avoid it hot, but also in order not to miss the entrance the sun. The longer route is El Bashait. We can use this route with the help of camels. The climb takes about two hours and you can buy food and water in small stalls along the way. At the top, it is possible to visit the Monastery of St. Catherine. The monastery was built by order of Emperor Justinian, is located around the place believed to be where Moses saw the burning bush. They are in the Monastery we get scripts, oil paintings and arabic mosaics. There are 5,000 volumes in various languages. The heart of the monastery is the Burning Bush Chapel. Not far from the chapel is a burning bush, a rare type of rose called Rubus Sanctus. The monastery is also a kind of fortress. Huge granite walls protected the monks and the treasures of the monastery. The most surprising part of the history of the monastery is the fact that he was always under the special care of various rulers ruling in these areas - regardless of religion and worldview. Around the monastery there is a National Park where you can meet a rock goat and a wolf from Europe, as well as hyenas from Africa and snakes. source: www.egypt.travel

Zobacz, jak wygląda w tej chwili Hurghada... 1/9 A trip to the island of Giftun Giftun Island is often referred to as the "Paradise Island". There are daily trips to the island from Hurghada. We will pay $ 25/30 for a trip that lasts approximately 6 hours. During the cruise, the ship berths twice at the coral reefs around the island. On board of each ship, or in the port, we can rent appropriate equipment (masks, snorkels or fins) before it leaves. Each ship is also equipped with life jackets, thanks to which even those who are not able to swim can "go out to sea". No posts published in this language yet Stay tuned... On the island itself, we can use several bars offering drinks and snacks. The island has a unique wide beach with very fine sand. Blue water, amazing views and the proximity of coral reefs make Giftun Island one of the most beautiful places in this part of the world. Before setting out on a trip , check the weather and wind in the vicinity of Hurghada. There you have 2 hours at your disposal. During this time, you can sunbathe, swim, snorkel, use the bar serving cold non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. On the island, apart from the beach, the bar and the toilets, there is practically nothing else. After 2 hours, you return to the ship. In 45 minutes you will be back in Hurghada. After reaching the marina, the minibus will take you to the hotel. I recommend a trip to the Giftun island to everyone. Especially after a few days on the beach, when we are already properly tanned. The books we took from Poland somehow don't "want to read". The music starts to annoy us and we look for a place between the bar, sun lounger, hotel room and pool. Buying a trip to the Giftun island will not be a problem. Every day, while you are on the beach, you will be persuaded by sellers to buy. You have to remember not to get stretched. The trip costs $ 25 to $ 30 and not a cent more. The trip to Giftun is not tiring. One thing you need to remember are headgear, I recommend wearing t-shirts with shoulder straps just in case. A sunscreen or sunscreen is essential. You need to take your own towel with you, on which we can lie down on board the ship, and after reaching the island on the beach. You must take one large bottle of water with you.

On site, only a few travel agencies offer a round trip around Hurghada. In most cases, it is a service for those who start or end their touring trip in Egypt (or choose a Nile cruise ). The tour of Hurghada mostly consists of a visit to the Coptic Church, Mosque, Aquarium, Duty Free Shop, and the largest shopping mall Senzo Mall. The trip takes half a day. It costs ~ $ 20. I also recommend a round trip around Hurghada to all those who: did not want to, were afraid, did not have time, were not interested in it, did not want to (delete as appropriate) to see the places where they spent their last days, or for those who were locked in huge resorts in the desert, they simply did not have to go to the city because everything was provided on the spot. Following the Ottoman period, the Napoleonic time and the rule of the British Empire (occupying the port) left itself a varied architecture from both periods, with many 19th-century buildings blending British, French and Islamic styles, and Roman. Al Quseir offers great hotels such as Movenpick, Flamenco Beach Resort and Utopia Beach, as well as Mangrove Bay Resort and Fanadir. Al Quseir's coral reefs are varied with scattered peaks, tunnels, chimneys, outcrops and caves. You can meet here moray eels, lionfish, mullets, variable margins, fistula and grouper, as well as plantain, shrimp and squid. The waters around Al Quseir are undoubtedly one of the best diving locations on the Red Sea Riviera, and to be maybe in the world. Port of Ghalib Port Ghalib legend has it that at the turn of the 1st and 2nd centuries a young man named Ghalib established a port for his merchant ships after his rival in the hand of his beloved prevented his merchant ships from mooring in the port of Aidhab. After the port was built, a competitor tried to destroy it by sending a fleet of warships. According to legend, a ghost fleet appeared at the time of the attack and chased the attackers away, allowing the port of Ghalib to flourish. Ghalib, of course, married his beloved. The port of Ghalib is 5 minutes away Marsa Alam International Airport and two and a half hours drive to the Valley of the Kings. The city is a luxury tourist resort a haven for ships and yachts. The network of hard coral formations forms a reef complex inhabited by a variety of fish and dolphins. There are wrecks of a tugboat and a sailing ship here. Legend has it that the ancient Egyptian pharaoh excavated magnificent green emeralds in the mountainous Eastern Desert south-west from Marsa Alam. The Cleopatra Mines and Mons Smaragdus (Emerald Mountains) became the most famous complexes the mines of the ancient world. The Wadi Gimal, Wadi Sikeit, Wadi Nuqrus and Gebel Zabra mines were operated during the Ptolemaic and Roman rule. Currently, the ruins of the mines in Zabra and Sikeit are still visible near Marsa Alam, as are the remains of temples and grottos. Near Marsa Alam, there are also the ruins of the Roman port of Myos Hormos, where you can see surprisingly well-preserved Roman artifacts, and about 200 tablets with hieroglyphs, decorating the cliff in the Wadi Hammamat valley. Hammamat is also known for the Bekheny Stone - a green ornamental rock that was considered sacred in ancient times. This stone was actively mined until to Roman times and used to make bowls, statues and even sarcophagi. About 220 kilometers south of Hurghada is Marsa Alam, one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations on the Riviera. It is a popular destination amongst the windsurfers, divers, snorkelers and beach lovers. Surrounded by palm trees and mangroves, it is a real tropical paradise and a great starting point. Marsa Alam (like other villages on the Riviera) used to be she was a village fishing. Now, thanks to the international airport, it is an important resort. Marsa Alam is famous for not being as crowded with tourists as Hurghada or Safaga. The city is also famous for its fantastic diving conditions. The dive sites are intact, almost unspoiled. The Elphinstone Reef, 6.5 miles offshore, is teeming with sea life. You can meet here water turtles and crabs. With shallow waters in the north, perfect for snorkeling, and much deeper in the south, this area is suitable for divers of all skill levels. Shaab Samadai (Dolphin Houce), a wavy reef south of Marsa Alam has gained its name thanks to the dolphins they are seen here very often. In addition to dolphins, this shallow turquoise lagoon is inhabited by sandwiches, lionfish and butterfly fish. Wadi Gemal, Berenice, Bir Shalatein In ancient times, the area this one was part of the main trade route between the Nile and the Red Sea, and the world beyond. It is for this reason that there are many archaeological finds, such as Roman observation towers lined up alongside roads to protect convoys from attacks. Wadi El Gemal - is a protected National Park located in the Eastern Desert. The park covers an area of almost 100 square kilometers. There are palm groves, mangrove bays and pristine white sand beaches. Berenice - the ancient city named after his mother by the ruler of Ptolema II Philadelphos in 275 BC was a trading port. The ruins of the Temple of Semiramis built by Trajan and Tiberius are located located near the city. Next are the remains of the Wadi Sakait emerald mine, which operated from the times of the pharaohs to the Roman times. On the outer walls of the temple there are paintings depicting the Emperor Tiberius standing before the god Min, and others in tribute to the deities of the Green Mines. The coast is divided by mangrove swamps and intact bays. It is worth visiting the tectonic island of Zabargad, which is a geological phenomenon and is also famous for the springs of olive semi-precious stones mined here from 1500 BC until until the mid-twentieth century. From Peridot Hill there are breathtaking views of the surrounding blue lagoons, rich in marine life. Berenice is famous not only for the possibility of fishing, but also are found myself here are some of the best SPA centers in Egypt. Bir Shalatein - is a small village on the Egyptian border with Sudan. It used to be the main seaport, and today the area is famous for its spectacular diving sites. source: www.egypt.travel Desert Fathers. Monastery of Saint Anthony and Saint Paul Palm Sunday, just before Easter, was the perfect day to visit monasteries - St. Anthony and St. Paweł Although it was my next trip to these places, visiting monks and beautiful temples always gives me a lot of joy. This time it was similar. Undaunted by the early hours, we left Hurghada at 7am. 250 kilometers north towards Cairo is just a 3-hour drive with a stop to wipe your still sleepy eyes. The landscape behind the bus window, perhaps monotonous for many - the Red Sea on the right, the desert with hills on the left - perfect for me to prepare to cross the threshold of the first monastery. St. Antoni's was our first stop. Just a kilometer before the gate, two towers with crosses appeared on the horizon, and in a few minutes we were to be greeted by a friend - Father Rawis. Taught by experience, despite the high temperature, I put a scarf and an ankle-length dress on my shoulders. Otherwise, the monks will present a "welcome pack" in the form of ankle-length Abei. We laughed that they looked like hospital pajamas, but that didn't deter two girls from not putting long-sleeved tops and pants in their luggage. From the very beginning, I can see the enchantment in the eyes of my friends. A beautiful olive garden, pale yellow walls surrounding the monastery and Father Rawie, who started our journey by painting the image of Mary on the girls' hands. We help our elderly father in showing us around - initially around the walls of monasteries, which were closed 100 years ago and the gates were bricked up. Visitors and groceries were hauled in with ropes and baskets, for fear of looting the temple by Bedouins and other hostile Egyptian Copts. For the next hour and a half, we are led to the fortress, the church with the relics of St. Anthony, where Father Rawis blessed and anointed us with oils. It is nice and cool in the thick walls of the temple, you can smell the oils everywhere. On the carpets, on which we walk barefoot, there are palm leaves left after the liturgy. They are completely different from our Polish palas - beautifully decorated and colorful. Father Rawis gave each of us such a leaf. We continue our journey through the monastery through narrow streets, asking my father a lot of questions about the life of monks, history, rituals, which are similar to those known to us from the Catholic Church. The legend of St. Antony, told to us by our father in the old monks' dining room, where the table and benches are made of rock, makes a great impression on everyone. The saint sold his property and lived in a rock grotto, where he spent about 80 years in prayer. Due to my father's age, we drove the car 300 meters up the hillside to the place where the history of the monastery began. In front of us we saw stairs, winding high up the rocky hill, all the way to the grotto of St. Anthony. And here part of the group decided to rest in a new chapel carved into the rock. We, on the other hand, decided to climb 1153 or 1152 stairs in the heat with scarves on our heads and bottles of water in our hands, which were already halfway empty. My father had asked each of us to write down our wishes or something for which we would like to thank them on small pieces of paper. The cards had to be taken to the grotto. Halfway down the road, we took our eyes off the stairs. An amazing landscape of mountains appeared in front of us. The view gave us strength. Halfway up the road and we'll be higher - on the observation deck. On the way, we pass a few pilgrims who greet us warmly and comfort us. After arriving, we did not find the shadow we wanted, the sun stopped at its zenith. We decided to enter the grotto immediately through a very narrow crevice in the rock. The short 10-meter corridor was completely dark. We were lit by the flashes of cameras and telephones. A few meters away, another flash of the camera and we saw a small staircase leading down a meter and a half. To our surprise, we saw a small altar with a painting of St. Anthony. Strict, modest, he perfectly suited the story told by the monk about the life of St. Anthony in asceticism. A magical, peaceful place. Our hike up was irrelevant anymore. We pulled out our cards in silence, each pressed their own into the slot of the arrowhead, as our predecessors had done. We spent a few more minutes in concentration and silence in the grotto before we decided to go back the same way. It was a challenge for all of us. Until today, following the example of St. Anthony, there are several monks in the mountains. They visit the monastery once a week to take part in the Sunday liturgy and take their groceries with them. Satisfied, we gather the group and set off to the next monastery. We have 60 kilometers to cover. Along the way, we meet pilgrims from the Netherlands who, with a Bedouin guide, decided to walk the mountains - about 14 kilometers to the next monastery of St. Paul. We wish you good luck and talk about the fact that the 1153 or maybe 1152 stairs are just a small part of the road that the Dutch have to overcome. On the way, we stop at a large parking lot where there are several restaurants. We eat lunch in a hurry, we only have two and a half hours to visit the next monastery. It is open to visitors until 4.30 PM. After I arrive, I ask about my friend's father. We quickly find him in the pilgrim's house, where after a few minutes we drink a cold neck and wear long dresses. The father asks about friends, the purpose of our visit, and after a few minutes in the shadow of the walls of the monastery of St. Paweł, we listen to the history of the place. The monastery is more austere, authentic, with clear traces of the history of the place. The mill, wooden boats in which the monks were fishing with camels to the Red Sea (14 kilometers) for 60 years more, have clear signs of use. Listened to the amazing story about St. Paul, we go down to the next grotto, where, like St. Antonia, St. Paweł has spent most of his life. Beautiful frescoes from several centuries ago show the story of St. Paul. The paintings linking cultures and religions also catch our eyes. The way my father leads us through the streets of the convent and tells about the monks' lives in the past and today touches my friends and me once again. He conducts a dialogue with us, full of curiosity and curiosity, we talk about tradition, religion, rituals, palm trees, the Christmas tree and dishes on the Easter table. There is a lot of laughter. Father shows us pictures taken 100 years ago by a famous American photographer who documented the life of monks. We can see places there, now intended for visitors and in the past, places of everyday use - a dining room, a fortress, a spring flowing from the rocks. The monks in the photos are dressed like contemporaries - in black cassocks and hoods with crosses on their heads. This element remained unchanged. We head towards the olive garden. To this day, the fathers make preserves. However, our eye is caught by a palm tree with three branches. It looks like a cross. We immediately ask my father about her. She replies that she has been in the garden for 30 years and that its branches symbolize the Holy Trinity. We take some photos and go back to the pilgrim's house to rest. The girls take off their dresses, we say goodbye to our guide, thank you for the refreshments and oils we received as a gift and we set off on our way back to Hurghada. Only now do we have time to talk about the trip and exchange comments. I can see contentment and weariness on my friends' faces. They are impressed. They did not think that there are such beautiful places in Egypt - peaceful, without thousands of tourists, where no one accosts anyone, does not try to sell their goods and take a few dollars out of their pockets. History and amazing landscapes will surely remain in their memory for a long time. And I'm sure I'll be back there again. as usual with curiosity and new questions to the monks. text: Ewelina Siwek, Egypt Exclusive Ze względu na wiek ojca pojechaliśmy samochodem 300 metrów ku zboczu góry do miejsca, w którym zaczęła się historia klasztoru. Przed sobą zobaczyliśmy schody, wijące się wysoko po skalnym wzgórzu, aż do groty Św. Antoniego. Karteczki należało zanieść do groty. Przyświecały nam flesze aparatów i latarki w telefonach. Kilka metrów dalej, kolejny błysk aparatu i zobaczyliśmy niewielkie schody wiodące półtora metra w dół. Ku naszemu zaskoczeniu zobaczyliśmy niewielki ołtarz z obrazem św Antoniego. Surowy, skromny, idealnie pasował do historii opowiedzianej przez mnicha o życiu św. Antoniego w ascezie. Miejsce magiczne, spokojne. Zadowoleni zbieramy grupę i wyruszamy do następnego klasztoru. Mamy do pokonania 60 kilometrów. Sposób, w jaki ojciec prowadzi nas uliczkami klasztoru i opowiada o życi mnichów kiedyś i dziś, porusza moich przyjaciół i mnie po raz kolejny. Prowadzi z nami pełen ciepła i ciekawości dialog, rozmawiamy o tradycji, religii, obrzędach, palmach, bożonarodzeniowej choince i potrawach na wielkanocnym stole. Ojcowie do dzisiaj wykonują przetwory. Jednak nasz wzrok przykuwa palma z trzema odnogami.
